Analog Devices Inc. ADuM7801 Isolated Analog-to-Digital Converters

Analog Devices ADuM7801 Isolated Analog-to-Digital Converters are high-performance isolated ADCs with a second-order Σ-Δ modulator that converts analog input signals into a high-speed, single-bit data stream. These devices operate from a 4.0V to 5.5V high-side supply, accept a pseudodifferential input of ±250mV for specified performance, and are well suited for shunt-resistor current monitoring in high voltage systems that require galvanic isolation.

The analog input is continuously sampled by a high-performance analog-to-digital modulator and converted to a pulse-density-modulated output stream at a data rate of up to 26MHz. With an appropriate sinc3 digital filter, the Analog Devices ADuM7801 ADCs achieve 88dB SNR at 97.6kSPS with a 256 decimation rate and a 25MHz input clock. At the same time, the digitally isolated serial interface operates from a 3V to 5.5V controller-side supply. High-speed CMOS and monolithic transformer technology provide on-chip isolation with performance advantages over alternatives such as optocoupler devices.

The ADI ADuM7801 ADCs are ideal for shunt current monitoring, AC motor controls, power and solar inverters, wind turbine inverters, and analog-to-digital and opto-isolator replacement applications. The ADuM7801 devices are offered in an 8-lead SOIC package and support an operating temperature range from -40°C to +125°C.
